The next video I will be analysing will be arctic monkeys I bet you look good on the dance floor, this video if fully performance, this isn’t normal for this type of music because to style and the lyrics of the song would give impressions of a different style of video, the video follows all the conventions of a music video that is fully based around the performance of the band, they have done this for this video because as they new when the song came out that it was going to be a huge hit, and they where right it is one of the most played and propbly most popular song by the earlier arctic monkeys.
The cinematography in the video is use in a May to make the band look bigger and more confident the are some establishing shots that show that they are in a studio and the eye line matches that give the audience a feel that they are in the room watching them and the fact that the camera has shot them all many different angles so it feels like you are just walking around them while they are playing, this is good because it make you feel like you are their watching them. which i think is what they wanted to be known for, a band that where still normal people and would play for their friends, which is a big part of being in a band, it is a very social thing.
The editing in the video is based around the beat of the song; it does this to make the video fit together and make it look neat, the edits or very fast paced and related to the song and the band. In the video it sticks the to normal conventions of this style but is also fits very well with the song and the way it has being produced.
The narrative of the video is just them playing the song, it doesn't really have a story to it, but this is what the band is trying to say, they are speaking to the audience with their music not there video, but this video is very iconic for the band because of the phrase that Alex says right at the beginning or the video before they start playing, he says 'This is I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, dont believe the hype' and most arctic monkeys fans will know this phrase and it is often shouted at gigs that the monkeys.
The institution of this band and music video are domino records, with is the label that it was released through, the video was filmed in front of a small audience and was filmed using 1970s TV cameras to give the video an aged effect, the strokes did a very similar video to this which is where the arctic monkeys may have taken their inspiration from as they are known to be big fans of the strokes.
The video has a deep representation to the band, as they are using old cameras it gives an aged effect to the video and also shows that the band are fans of the stokes as they have taken the inspiration from them, they may have done this to make it feel like they are showing the audience that even though they are a massive band and have had various number ones, they still love music by other people.
